Types of Data Input

The information used by the software to perform a Natural Input Modal Analysis includes the geometry of the structure, the measured vibration responses and the sampling interval. The geometry information includes a description of the measurement points, the measurement directions and a wire-frame / surface representation of the structure that is used for animation of the mode shapes.

The user can also specify how the unmeasured degrees of freedom (DOF) should move as a function of the movement of the measured DOF’s. For instance, the motion of an unmeasured DOF can be interpolated between two adjacent measured DOF’s.

Multiple Test Setups

Using multiple test setups allows the user to obtain a good spatial resolution of mode shapes with a limited number of sensors. During testing one can select one or more sensors as references and then move the remaining sensors throughout the structure until vibration responses have been measured at DOF’s of interest.

OLE Automation

The OLE automation standard allows the user to import input data from any software that supports the standard.Typical examples are Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and MATLAB. The user can also write customized applications in e.g. Microsoft Visual Basic and import data and geometry directly.

Import from data files and SVS Configuration File

All geometric data can be specified in the SVS Configuration File, which can be easily generated using a text file editor. Response data can be read from ASCII files with the data stored in a matrix format in which the time series are organized column by column. In addition, data stored in TEAC HDR format, UFF ascii and binary and Microsoft Wave file format can be uploaded through the use of the configuration file. This enables the user to import data from data acquisition systems storing data various formats.

Import from Universal File Format (UFF)

Input data can be imported from data files stored using the Universal File Format.
This makes it easy to analyse data from measurement systems that support this standard. Nodal information imported via UFF data set #15, trace lines via UFF data sets #82, surfaces via UFF data set #2412 (triangular plate elements). Measurements and DOF information via UFF data sets #58 (ASCII or binary).

Import from ARTeMIS Testor

All input data can be transferred directly from ARTeMIS Testor by a click on a button in the Export task of the ARTeMIS Testor.

Import from MATLAB

All input data can be transferred directly from MATLAB without intermediate
file storage. This feature is useful for analysis of structural response simulations
performed with MATLAB.

OLE Automation. Uploading geometry and data from ARTeMIS Testor by a click on a button.
